Week 44: Spread the Word

We inherently understand the economic value in shopping locally and supporting local people.

We know that it makes sense to be vocal in our recommendations for local shops, markets, cafes, restaurants, workshops, activities, and the rest, but do we do it often enough?

This week try to spread the word about three local things which you’ve enjoyed or have peaked your interest recently. Perhaps you learnt about a really interesting project when learning local earlier in the month - share that!

It’s not just about encouraging people to support local economies, it feels good. It helps us to feel more positive about the future when we hear about good people doing good things, driving proactively for positive change.

Over half (56%) of Liverpool SOUP’s attendees have a more positive view of the Liverpool City Region and are, therefore, more optimistic about the future as a result of hearing about the local projects happening on their doorsteps at our events.

So go spread the good word!

About Liverpool SOUP

Liverpool SOUP is a micro-funding event which brings local people together to learn about and support local, grassroots projects. The SOUP concept is a global one with groups of volunteers putting their own spin on it from town-to-town and city to-city - the aspects that tie SOUPs together are the support for Doers in local communities, raising money from the community for these community-focused projects and eating together, enjoying one another’s company. Since June 2019, Liverpool SOUP has showcased 57 projects and facilitated £23,981 of donations to those projects, not to mention all the wonderful connections, collaborations and additional direct donations that have happened as a result of these events.
